The key trick is to keep the rest of the face simple but polished. Think luminous skin, neutral eyes and prettily flushed cheeks (this last point is key, refer to previous goth mention) This is the perfect party look. Its edgy yet pretty. To really amp it up for evening,I like to apply a thick gloss to the middle of the lip in a lighter shade of blood red....it makes lips look divine!
Of course this shade is Luxe for a reason,a deep decadent shade like this needs a lipstick to match. Hydration is important with shades like these,so the lipstick you choose should be moisturising that packs a punch with colour...this one of these all or nothing type looks. So,treat yourself to a really good lipstick.
My top tips for applying statement colours like these are as follows:
1.Make sure lips are soft and flake free. To really make the most of colour dab a small amount of concealer over your lips.
2.Apply the lipstick with a brush, really working the product into your lips, firstly leave the outline soft.Use the lip brush to outline the lip. The drama of the lipstick shade should be enough, so make for a softly lined rosebud lip, emphasising a strong lip line with lip liner may look a tad harsh.
3. Blot! You dont want to overload lips with product and cause bleeding around the edges.
4.Apply another layer of lipstick.
5.Finish with a coat of thick gloss, focusing on the center of your lip.
And Voila!! Gorgeous luxurious, show stopping lips!
Here are some of my favourite shades for achieving this look.
